Mikayla Turkewitz

Originally from Maryland, Mikayla left her hometown to pursue her undergraduate studies at Occidental College in California. She graduated with a degree in English and Comparative Literary Studies with a minor in Classical Studies.

She then attended the University of Chicago, Illinois, where she received her Juris Doctorate. During her time in law school, Mikayla worked as a law clerk and a judicial extern for the Cook County Chancery Division for a semester.

Mikayla attributes her desire to become an attorney to one bring your child to work day with her dad. She remembers sitting in meetings regarding copyright issues. Despite not understanding any of the terms and concepts, she remembered seeing all these people talking about their field with such passion. On top of that, getting to see those conversations make an actual impact a few months later when the new measures started was something that inspired Mikayla. It was then that she decided she wanted to be able to do the same thing for a living as well.

Outside of practicing law, Mikayla is an avid fan of football and soccer. She also enjoys anything related to ancient history, as well as reading and classic movies. Mikayla also enjoys traveling, having visited various parts of the world – from South Korea, Bulgaria, Ireland, Italy, Belgium, and a few others.
