Matt Bernstein
Senior Counsel
Mr. Bernstein has been practicing and teaching Immigration and Nationality law for over 15 years. He serves clients in all areas of immigration law, including corporate and family-based immigration, asylum, and naturalization. Mr. Bernstein represents corporations, nonprofit organizations and individuals, including professionals, aliens of extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts and business, individuals seeking immigration benefits for family members, asylees, and individuals threatened with removal from the United States by the government.
From 2004 to 2009, Mr. Bernstein was an Assistant Professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law where he directed their Immigration Clinical Education Program and taught Asylum and Refugee Law. Mr. Bernstein also served as a member of the Executive Board of the Chicago Chapter of the American Immigration Lawyer's Association. He earned his law degree from Chicago-Kent College of Law and his bachelors in English literature from Arizona State University. Mr. Bernstein is a regular volunteer attorney with the Marjorie Kovler Center for Victims of Torture and has received the Distinguished Service Award from the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation. He has been invited to speak at various professional conferences and law student associations.
In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Bernstein is a certified Pilates Instructor and president of Vital Spark, LLC, a company that provides onsite corporate wellness through Pilates, yoga and massage therapy provided at the workplace. Vital Spark grew out of Mr. Bernstein’s long and continuing experience as an attorney where he saw the overall decline in the wellness of those in the legal profession as well as in his corporate clients. He believes that everyone’s wellness is a key to improving any organization’s bottom line by increasing workplace satisfaction and productivity and reducing health care costs. Naturally, Mr. Bernstein directs the wellness program at Atom Law Group.
